Very dark gradients, subtle shadow detail, and fluorescent-looking screen color can change when printed. A finish may further alter perceived contrast without changing the underlying ink values. Keep important edges and text distinct before adding texture. Compare artwork at actual size and ordinary brightness rather than judging only a zoomed, backlit display. Do not compensate for uncertainty by oversaturating every color.
