The cut path should describe one stable object.

Temporarily hide texture, shadows, internal holes, and background effects, then look at the subject as a single filled shape. Decide which detached details truly need to remain part of the sticker. Join tiny floating marks to the main art or remove them when they would create separate islands. A recognizable broad outline is easier to apply and usually gives the illustration more presence than a path that chases every hair or brush mark.

Use an even visual offset

Border space should feel intentional around the whole subject.

A white border can separate artwork from any surface, but inconsistent width makes the piece look accidental. Examine tight corners between limbs, letters, tools, and accessories, then round narrow channels that would pinch the border. Optical balance matters more than a mathematically identical distance at every point. Check the contour over light, dark, and busy backgrounds so no important edge disappears.

Simplify sharp turns and fragile points

A smoother path supports handling without changing the character of the art.

Long spikes, tiny notches, deep inward cuts, and acute corners can be difficult to peel and easy to catch during use. Round them enough to create a calm continuous edge while preserving signature ears, leaves, hair, or equipment. Compare a detailed version with a simplified version at the smallest available size. Choose the one whose subject remains recognizable without making the physical perimeter do unnecessary work.

Keep exact content away from the cut

Names, codes, and key features need clear space inside the finished edge.

Do not place a letter stroke, QR module, face, or essential logo detail directly against the contour. Small shifts during preparation should not threaten the information the sticker must preserve. Preserve mode is appropriate when exact artwork matters, but the source file still needs adequate margin. A border cannot repair content that was already cropped or placed too close to the artwork boundary.

Review at physical size before ordering

Zoom is useful for inspection but misleading for overall proportion.

View the prepared product at 100 percent, print a paper outline when possible, and compare the contour with the selected millimeter size. Look for isolated pieces, flat spots, lopsided spacing, and details that become too small. Confirm the chosen shape and white-border option on the private product page. If the path changes the meaning of a logo or illustration, resolve it before checkout rather than treating the order as another design round.
